Specialised Courses for UK Orthodontists: What You Need to Know

Are you looking to become an orthodontic specialist in the United Kingdom? Our master's degree in orthodontics offers comprehensive academic, practical, and clinical teaching in modern orthodontics, including the normal development and growth of the facial skull. Established more than 40 years ago, it is one of the oldest clinical training programs in the UK. The course provides you with the skills needed to become a competent orthodontic specialist, with a focus on the clinical, theoretical, and research areas needed to provide appropriate patient care. All students will be encouraged to take up orthodontic membership. When applying for specialized orthodontic training in the UK, applicants must have completed their degree in dental surgery (BDS or BChD).

They will be able to apply for specialized training once they have at least 24 months of experience after earning the BDS degree. Applicants must also have completed their basic dental training. At the end of this training, they will receive their artist number, which will allow them to work in the NHS in the United Kingdom. Applicants will generally then complete basic dental training (DCT). However, they can also dedicate themselves to dentistry and do not necessarily have to start a DCT career, but must be able to demonstrate equivalent competencies.
